2 Pasay courts dismiss raps vs. Neri Naig-Miranda

PASAY CITY – Couple actress Neri Naig-Miranda and musician Chito Miranda are no longer problematic.

This as two Pasay courts have dismissed the charges against actress,  social media influencer and entrepreneur Neri Naig-Miranda for syndicated estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code.

This leaves another actress, San Francisco-based Ruffa Mae Quinto Magallanes, facing similar cases involving the same company.

Rufa Mae surrendered to authorities on January 8, following accusations of securities fraud.

A Pasay court had issued an arrest warrant for her alleged involvement in 14 counts of alleged violations under the Securities Regulation Code. She is free on bail.

Quinto, who has consistently denied any fraudulent activity, stated that she, too, was a victim of the scam.

The case revolves around accusations that Quinto, along with other individuals, participated in the unauthorized sale and distribution of securities related to Dermacare.

Chito posted on Instagram the good news from the FLO Attorneys-at-Law stated that Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 112 ordered the dismissal of the syndicated case against Miranda.

“Glaringly, the private complainants never alleged being defrauded by [Miranda]… More mind-boggling is that private complainants never asserted having personally transacted with or handed over money to [Miranda],” the court order dated February 12 stated.

“Therefore, the evidence presented indeed fails to establish that [Miranda] committed the crime of estafa, more so, syndicated estafa,” it added.

The Pasay City prosecutors found no probable cause to indict Miranda upon the reinvestigation sought by her legal counsel.

The FLO Attorneys said that the Pasay RTC Branch 111 also ordered the dismissal of the complaints against Miranda for violation of the Securities Regulation Code.

“We thank the courts for clearing the name of Neri Miranda, who has unmistakably been falsely accused of wrongdoing in the Dermacare case,” Atty. Aureli SInsuat, Naig-Miranda’s legal counsel, said in the statement.

“We hope that this issue will be put to rest as regards to Neri, so that instrumentalities of the law can focus on bringing the true perpetrators of the Dermacare scam to justice,” he added.

Chito Miranda extended his gratitude to the supporters of his wife.

“To those who chose to stand up and defend my wife, maraming salamat talaga (thank you very much),” he said.
