HEALTH & WEALTH: More creative, expedient ways in signing, notarization and apostille of documents

As an accredited and commissioned Notary Public in California since 1981 and founder of Mobile Signing Services (MSS), I’m delighted to know how an  old client had done more creative and expedient ways in the signing, notarization and apostille of documents urgently needed in the Philippines.

Lucy, 94-year-old client from the East Bay,  called me last week for assistance and help in the signing, notarization and apostille  of five documents urgently needed, covering several properties located in the municipalities of Oton and Barotac Viejo, province of Iloilo in the Philippines.

The five documents  (prepared by their lawyer) urgently needed in the Philippines are the following: 1. One DEED OF EXTRA-JUDICIAL SETTLEMENT; 2. Two  EXTRA-JUDICIAL SETTLEMENT OF ESTATE; 3. Two SPECIAL POWER OF ATTORNEY.

Lucy arranged and scheduled the signing and notarization of the five documents last July 9, 2025, 11:00 am in her home in Pinole, California USA. My beloved wife Virginia Jimenez Madlaing (who served as witness to signatures) and I drove to Pinole, California and arrived on time at the residence of Lucy.

After some preliminaries, I had Lucy sign first the five documents. Then, I had Lucy sign my Journal of Notarial Acts and put her right hand thumb mark. Subsequently, Lucy’s daughters  Dorothy and Em signed the five documents. Then, the two daughters signed my Journal of Notarial Acts and put their right hand thumb marks.

After the signing of Lucy and her daughters Dorothy and Em, we needed  to visit and see Lucy’s son Aljoe in his Office as Manager of GRIP IT GOLF, LLC, Custom Fitting & Golf Club Repair at 2401 San Pablo Avenue, Suite B, Pinole, California 94564. Daughter Em volunteered to guide us to Aljoe’s office. Aljoe needed to sign the five documents also.

Before going to Aljoe’s Office for the signing of documents, my beloved wife and I received a big surprise. Lucy and her two daughters presented to us an artistic “THANK YOU” Card dated July 9, 2025 with the envelope addressed artistically  “Art & Virginia.”

The “THANK YOU” Card showed the picture of two chirping birds with beautiful flowers. Inside the “THANK YOU” Card, Lucy and her children wrote the following:

“Dear Art & Virginia,

Great to see you both again.

We appreciate your position & the work you do to help people like our family. Excellent services.

I hope these words will help to show how much your kindness mean to us.

Thank you & God bless!!

Sincerely,

Lucy, Dorothy, Em , Aljoe”

Lucy enclosed $100 cash gift (tip) in the “THANK YOU” Card.

We, then, proceeded to the office of Aljoe. After some preliminaries, I had Aljoe sign the five documents. I also had him sign my Journal of Notarial Acts and put his right hand thumb mark.

After notarization, my beloved wife and I drove to Sacramento, California the following day, Thursday, and submitted the notarized documents to the Secretary of State, Notary Public Section, for apostille. We waited for the release of the apostilled documents later in the afternoon.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, I sent by Priority Mail to Lucy the apostilled five documents urgently needed in the Philippines. I also sent to Lucy an autographed copy of one of my eight Amazon best-selling books together with the apostilled documents entitled  “R.A.W WISDOM” subtitled “FINDING PEACE IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS.”

On Monday, July 14, 2025, I received a text message from Lucy as follows: “Just to let you know our Priority package was delivered before noon today! PTL! (Praise the Lord). And a load of thanks for all the enclosed gifts!! Love to Virgie & you!!!.”

The creative and expedient ways done by Lucy in the signing, notarization and apostille of documents, made this special processing the fastest turn-around of notarization and delivery of apostilled documents in just four working days.
