New hope for farmers, PHL drive for rice sufficiency, better crops, bigger produce bared

MAKATI CITY – There is hope for better and bigger rice produce and improved income for the Filipino farmers.

This is the message of Xanadu Maxpower Liquid Fertilizers and its partner, United Laboratories Inc.’s agriculture arm UNAHCO (Univet Nutrition and Animal Healthcare Company) and attested by some of their leading farmers using their products.

Wellington C. Soong, the man behind the Xanadu Agri Products, and Hazel R. Loreto-Murphree, Xanadu executive director, met with leading agricultural and business journalists led by Ray Junia, president of the Philippine Agricultural Journalists (PAJ) at their Makati City headquarters and brought out the good news.

Farmers from Nueva Ecija, the country’s rice granary, led by Dante D. Lina, brother of former Senator, Interior and Local Government Secretary and Governor Jose D. Lina, joined the conference and attested to their higher rice yields since using Xanadu’s liquid fertilizer.

Lina said that since using Xanadu “Napakaganda at napakabigat ng naging epekto ng Xanadu Maxpower sa uhay ng aking palay. Sobrang sulit ang paggamit ng Xanadu dahil sa laki ng katipiran sa abono at malaking dagdag na ani ng aking palay.”

Lina, one of Xanadu’s agri champions from Santa Maria, Licab, Nueva Ecija, declared that with Xanadu fertilizer, one will need only minimum of ten (10) one-liter bottles of Xanadu fertilizer compared to 30 bags of other types of fertilizer for a one-hectare rice farm.

In his testimony, Lina said using Xanadu Maxpower in his half hectare farm yielded 5,518 kilos last April compared to only 4,087 kilos using other fertilizer before. That’s a 35 percent yield increase with LP 937 rice variety.

Compared to 30 bags of ordinary fertilizer ordinarily used in a hectare, the 10 bottles of Xanadu fertilizer is much cheaper and much easier to transport to the farm than the heavy, ordinary fertilizer bags.

Lina said that for his half-hectare, he spent only P8,380 on Xanadu Maxipower fertilizer compared to his old fertilizer in the past of P10,210 or 17.9 percent savings.

And the yield with Xanadu is much higher than those using other fertilizers, he added.

Xanadu’s big boss, Soong, took note of Lina’s statements, pointing out that “increasing our farmers’ yield while helping them save on costs is our most important mission.”

Soong said Xanadu agri products were introduced and tested only recently in the Philippines but already are getting fast acceptance from farmers of rice and other crops.

Xanadu’s Loreto-Murphree said that already, the Xanadu fertilizers are distributed and used by happy farmers in at least 32 provinces, adding “and we are expanding.”

Noting the success of farmers who used Xanadu agri products, the United Laboratories Inc.’s agriculture arm UNAHCO (Univet Nutrition and Animal Healthcare Company) secured an agreement with Xanadu to promote and distribute its products along with the wide distribution network of Unilab and UNAHCO.

Other top producers using Xanadu liquid fertilizer backed up Lina’s revelation and are featured in social media posts.

Crisostomo delos Santos of May Talang Dos, Lumban, Laguna, reported that using Xanadu Maxpower on his 2,500 sqm, he harvested last May 2,444 kilos using SL 7 rice variety in his 2,500 square meters farm compared to previous old system yield of 1,820 kilos or 624 kilos more or 34.3 percent yield advantage.

On fertilizer costs, he spent P3,350 for Xanadu liquid fertilizer, compared to his old practice of fertilizer bags worth P9,300. “That is 64 percent cost savings on fertilizer,” he said.

The same results were achieved by Lovelie Viernes of Puangi, Dipaculao, Aurora who harvested 3,719 kilos in her 6,000 square meter farm using Xanadu compare to 2,406 kilos in previous yields using other fertilizer or 54.6 improvement.

Other Xanadu agri champions reporting higher yields with least cost were Ireneo Carnate of Cabaruan, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte who reported 10 percent increase from 1,427 kilos to 1,566 kilos from half hectare farm in his rice yield in June 2024 using NK5017 variety and 35 percent savings in fertilizer costs.

Mariano Bullet of Barangay Bagumbayan, Bula, Camarines Sur reported 15.2 increase in harvest from 3,960 kilos to 4,560 kilos in his half hectare farm using RC222 variety and 22 percent fertilizer cost savings.

Gerry Pamonag of San Antonio, San Enrique, Iloilo reported 16 percent higher yield in his 6,000 square meter corn farm, harvesting 1,596 kilos compared to 1,375 kilos with the old fertilizer.

Allen Meradios of Calabasa, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija, meanwhile, scored 67.7 percent yield increase in his onion 5,000 square meter farm with 8,185 kilos using Xanadu fertilizer compared to 4,880 kilos before using other fertilizer.

The Xanadu liquid fertilizers are good not only for rice and corn, but also onions and other crops.

With Xanadu’s efficacy, expect more Filipino farmers shifting to the liquid fertilizer for better and more harvests at cheaper costs but bigger income and profit. (AGG/Agricoolture News Network)
