MANILA – A University of the Philippines (UP) graduate topped the 2024 Bar Examinations, the Supreme Court (SC) announced on Friday, December 13.

Kyle Christian Tutor of the UP College of Law got the highest score with an overall rating of 85.7700 percent.

The High Court said 3,962 out of 10,490 examinees passed, or a passing rate of 37.84 percent.

Four in the top 10 with the highest scores were from UP, two from the Ateneo de Manila University, and one each from Angeles University Foundation, University of Mindanao, Western Mindanao State University and San Beda University-Manila.

6. Maria Lovelyn Joyce S. Quebrar, University of the Philippines, 84.0600%;
7. Kyle Andrew P. Isaguirre, Ateneo de Manila University, 83.9050%;
8. Joji S. Macadine, University of Mindanao, 83.7450%;
9. Gregorio Jose II S. Torres, Western Mindanao State University, 83.5900%; and
10. Raya B. Villacorta, San Beda University-Manila, 83.4700%

The SC said 130 out of 142 schools have passers.

Of 13 Law schools with more than 100 first-time Bar examinees candidates, the top five were Ateneo de Manila University, 159 of 165 takers passed (96.36%); University of the Philippines, 202 of 217 (93.08%); San Beda University-Manila, 119 of 130 (91.538%); University of Santo Tomas-Manila, 118 of 133 (88.72%); and University of San Carlos, 94 of 110 (85.45%).

The following are the top law schools with 51 to 100 first-time takers:

1. Polytechnic University of the Philippines — 54 passers out of 61 (88.52%)
2. University of Cebu — 45 passers out of 51 (88.24)
3. De La Salle University-Manila — 56 passers out of 64 (87.50%)
4. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila — 45 passers out of 53 (84.91%)
5. Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan — 55 passers out of 80 (68.75%)

Associate Justice Mario Lopez, who chaired the exams, congratulated the successful examinees.

“I commend you for your exceptional resilience in your Bar journey. Remain humble as you are not superior than those who failed. There are myriads of reasons why you have passed the Bar exams. And the same way that there are also reasons why they failed. For those who failed, remember failure is a temporary detour, not a fatal defeat,” he said in a statement.
