Willie Revillame show to be axed?

Is the newly revived show of Willie Revillame on TV 5 to be axed?

Rumors have floated about the supposed plan amid what some insiders said was the poor rating of the show following its blockbuster launch.

The rumors were bolstered when the show slashed 30 minutes of its time and would start instead at 5 p.m. from 4:30 pm. daily.

The new time slot started last September 16 as the “Sakorera” segment was slashed from the show.

“Starting Monday po, 5 P.M. na tayo magsisimula dahil wala na tayong ‘Sakorera,’ Willie himself announced.

“Kasi ang gusto ninyo, lumabas na agad ako ng ala-singko. Sama-sama agad tayo kaya tuluy-tuloy na po ang saya,”  Willie added.

He said TV5 management found that televiewers want him immediately at the beginning of his show, thus the  “Sakorera” game segment which started at 4:30 P.M. was slashed.

“Sakorera” used to be handled by Willie’s co-hosts Cindy Miranda, Boobsie Wonderland, Inday Fatima, Anna Ramsey. and Christine Bermas.

Willie said the show will have more surprises and gifts starting October.

“Marami rin kaming sorpresa at regalo this coming Pasko. Itong October, ano ang mangyayari sa Wil To Win? Abangan ninyo po ang aming announcement,” he said in a Pep.ph report.

“Ano ang mangyayari sa TV5, marami pong bago. Abangan ninyo po lahat yan dahil importante ito para sa inyo,” he added.

Willie has started giving out jackets again in his show, starting with a grandmother.

Those who received jackets were happy when they found out that there were cash in the jacket’s pockets.

“Maagang pamasko ito para sa mga senior citizens na nagsasadya sa studio ng  programa sa Novaliches, Quezon City,” he said.

“Alam ninyo ho, walang kuwenta itong studio kung wala kayo rito,” he  said. “Palakpakan, sigawan, yan ang nagbibigay inspirasyon sa akin, sa aming lahat dito.”

“Aanhin mo ang studio na ’to kung wala naman nagmamahal sa programang ito. Aanhin mo ang mga camera na yan kung wala naman nakikinig at nanonood sa yo?” he added.

The rumors and speculation began after Chakapuso posted on X (formerly Twitter) suggesting that ‘Wil To Win’ might be canceled soon.

Veteran showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz took to his platform to refute these claims, providing clarification from a trusted source within the show’s production team.

According to Diaz’s source, there is no truth to the rumors of the show being pulled off the air or shortened. The source confirmed that ‘Wil To Win’ has only been on air since July 14, and the show’s run is protected by a three-year contract between Revillame and TV5.

Additionally, the show is reportedly performing well in its timeslot, standing out as one of TV5’s top performers.

Jon Montesa, a known member of ‘Wil To Win’ staff, also dismissed the rumors, stating, “Not true.”

Late August, Willie Revillame himself came out to address allegations his new show on TV5 titled “Will To Win” is set to end its run this December in various Manila media reports, including Pep.ph and Manila Bulletin.

He told audiences during a recent episode of the show, “Maraming chismis na isang buwan na lang daw kami, hanggang December na lang—hindi ho totoo ‘yon.”

Willie also addressed bashers critical of his actions relating show staff.

“Lahat ng nagagalit sa akin, nayayabangan, darating ang panahon na mamahalin niyo rin kami rito,” he said.

He went on, “Sabihin niyo na lahat ng sasabihin niyo, okay lang sa akin ‘yan. Basta kami, mabuti hangarin namin dito.”

Willie also explained why he is only too willing to scold his staff on-air, something that caused huge ruckus.

“Sana maintindihan niyo kung ako ho ay nagagalit sa ere dahil una, nire-rehearse namin ‘yan,” he added. “Ang point ko lang, bakit pa nagkakamali? Ibig sabihin wala sa puso at isip mo ang ginagawa mo.”

Willie’s statement was backed up by the show’s producer MediaQuest, parent company of TV5, stating on the show’s first anniversary the reports that the show will be up to December 2024 only were “malicious” and “false reports.”

On  August 16, 2024,  MediaQuest issued a statement denying the  Wil To Win show will end by December 2024 as it said it was thrilled to celebrate the first month of the show.

Here’s Mediaquest statement:

“Contrary to malicious and false reports, MQuest Ventures and Mr. Willie Revillame’s long-term partnership remains steadfast, committed to spreading happiness and creating winning moments for Filipinos.

“MediaQuest is thrilled to celebrate the first month of “Wil To Win” with Mr. Willie Revillame through WinQuest Productions, and we extend our gratitude to our advertisers and the Kapatid community across the country and the world.” (Jennifer T. Santos)
