Judy,  and old client, called me last Thursday, June 5, 2025, requesting for immediate help for the signing, notarization and apostille  of a revised Deed of Extrajudicial Settlement of Estate with Special Power of Attorney required by the BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue) to beat the deadline for tax amnesty on June 14, 2025.

I immediately set appointment in my home office in San Francisco, the following day, Friday, June 6, 2025 with Judy for the signing, and notarization of the four sets of the revised Deed of Extrajudicial Settlement of Estate with Special Power of Attorney as required by the BIR.

After some preliminaries, I had Judy signed the four sets of the revised Deed of Extrajudicial Settlement of Estate with Special Power of Attorney. Then, I had Judy signed my Journal of Notarial Acts and put her right thumb marks. After the signing and notarization of the documents, Judy requested that we bring and submit the notarized documents to the Secretary of State, Notary Public Section in Sacramento, California immediately to beat the deadline of the BIR on tax amnesty.

As founder of Mobile Signing Services (MSS), my beloved wife Virginia Jimenez Madlaing (who signed as witness to the signatures of Judy) and I drove early last Monday, June 9, 2025  to the Secretary of State, Notary Public Section in Sacramento  and submitted the notarized documents  for apostille. Upon arriving back to our home in San Francisco, Judy picked up the apostilled documents and sent to her nephew in Manila for immediate submission to the BIR.

Judy’s nephew in Manila (serving as her Attorney-in-Fact) instructed her to send copies of the apostilled documents to him by email so that he can submit the apostilled documents to BIR to beat the June 14, 2025 tax amnesty deadline, with the original copies to follow.

I don’t normally go to the Secretary of State, Notary Section in Sacramento, California on Mondays because of the very long lines at the Front Desk counter.  But due to the urgent needs of Judy, my beloved wife and I drove to Sacramento and submitted the notarized documents for apostille. Judy and her nephew were able to beat the June 14, 2025  BIR tax amnesty deadline.

MERCYLLENA AND EMMANUEL RECEIVE MULTIPLE AWARDS AT DEL MAR HIGH SCHOOL IN SAN JOSE

As a columnist and active Evangelist with the GOLDEN GATE CHURCH OF CHRIST in San Francisco, California I was blessed and fortunate to attend the graduation ceremony of my niece Mercyllena Talon Madlaing and her cousin Emmanuel Tomboc Talon last Thursday, 5 pm, June 5, 2025 in the Football Field, Del Mar High School in San Jose, California.

The graduation ceremony was also attended by Salvador Gabot Madlaing and his wife Ursula Talon  Madlaing (proud parents of Mercyllena);  Reynaldo Talon and his wife Cecilia Talon (proud parents of Emmanuel); Antonino Talon and his wife Remedios Talon (maternal grandparents of Mercyllena); Dionisio Gabot Madlaing (uncle of Mercyllena);  Jennylen Talon; Jeselyn Talon Ames and her daughter Casey Ames; Jonalyn Salazar,  Isaac Talon and Ismael Talon (brothers of Emmanuel).

During the Del Mar High School Senior Awards Night, Mercyllena Talon Madlaing received the following awards: Golden State Seal Merit Diploma. This award recognizes public school graduates who have demonstrated their mastery of the high school curriculum in at least six subject matter areas, four of which are English language arts, mathematics, science and U. S. history;

IB Merit Scholar Award: Presented to Mercyllena by Clare Chartfield, IB Coordinator; Gold Seal Award: This award recognizes academic success in the classroom. To be eligible for the President’s Award for Academic Excellence, students must have earned a minimum grade point average of 3.50 unweighted throughout their high school years.

Del Mar High School Distinguished Scholar Award was presented to Mercyllena by Diana Nguyen, Principal, for maintaining  4.0+ weighted GPA all four years

Emmanuel received State Seal of Biliteracy Award. This program recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading and writing one or more languages in addition to English

As a book author and active Evangelist, I consider Mercyllena and Emmanuel as my “children in the faith.”

During the height of the COVID -19 pandemic lockdown, my beloved wife Virginia Jimenez Madlaing and I were blessed and fortunate to do WE CARE gospel presentation to both Mercyllena and Emmanuel through the arrangement of Ursula Talon Madlaing (Mercyllena’s mother) last April 27, 2020. At the end of the gospel presentation, they both decided to obey the gospel in baptism for the remission of their sins (Acts 2:38, NKJV).

I personally baptized both Mercyllena and Emmanuel  inside the baptistery of the GOLDEN GATE CHURCH OF CHRIST in San Francisco, California in the afternoon of April 27, 2020. Both Mercyllena and Emmanuel are now faithful Christians. They attend the worship services at the MISSION AND SEVENTH STREET CHURCH OF CHRIST in San Jose, California.

Congratulations Mercyllena and Emmanuel on your graduation day! I am very proud to both of  you for your achievement as recipient of multiple awards.
